Overcome Depression
Learning how to overcome depression begins with
this knowledge:
Your
mind's absorbed opinions about yourself and your
life need overwriting.
Having
had depression, I believe that it is a
state of ill mental health caused by constant negative programming in
the brain. Why do I believe it is this?
Because since I made it my highest goal to change
my life so that my mind would think more positively of me,
I've gotten
better. I don't have depression now. I made masses of effort to get my
mind to reprogram positively - and it worked.
This article will teach you how to overcome
depression in the same way. We're all different. What works for me may
not work for you - but it is definitely worth a shot.
It is the
subconscious mind that needs changing
You know that part of your mind that you don't have conscious control
over? It watches the things you do and the things you think. It is like
an overlooking video camera. It forms an opinion of you based on what
it sees happening to you.
When you've got depression, your subconscious's
opinion of you is a low one. It doesn't think much of you.
Why not?
Because you, or other people, or both, have given it reason to absorb
and believe negative stuff about you.
The workings of your mind (be they positive or
negative) control the feelings you get. When negative stuff deeply
sinks into the subconscious, this gives you negative feelings. Because
the negative stuff has happened or been thought so often, these
negative feelings are quite permanent. This is what I believe
depression to be.
I've got some
good news and some bad news!
Which d'ya want first? Ok here's the bad news. Always best to end news
on a high note...
The bad news is that you cannot tell your
subconscious what to think. It won't believe you if you momentarily
tell it something great, especially if it has seen evidence to know
that this is not true. Basically, the bad news is that you cannot fake
your way out of depression by fooling your mind - it is
too smart for
that.
Now for the good news!
Even though you can't just tell your mind things
to change it's opinion of you, you CAN SHOW it things.
The secret on
how to overcome depression, and
therefore how to 'edit' your subconscious mind, is to bravely go out
into the world and gain authentic life experience.
You've
got to show
your subconscious that it is wrong about you. Self improvement is the
only way to do this.
Remember, this mind is like a video camera. Video
cameras don't show what they are told, they show what they can see
happening. You've got to show your 'video camera' that the negative
stuff that it 'knows' about you - is wrong.
The negative stuff that has built up in your
subconscious over time is what makes you feel the depressive feelings.
If you work out ways that you can improve yourself and your life, and
you then go out and bravely make those improvements, you go beyond
learning how to overcome depression - you actually beat it.
Why is this?
Because your subconscious 'video camera' is seeing
you doing valuable, positive things for yourself. It starts to view you
more positively. You've began the reprogramming of your mind's workings
toward the positive. This means that you've reprogrammed your feelings
to more positive also, because feelings are controlled by the mind.
A major
reality check!
The way I've written this article makes how to deal with depression
sound so simple.
You know and I know - it isn't anything close to
easy.
Challenging your weaknesses is the hardest thing you'll ever
do.
But
don't think that you'll go unrewarded. If it's the hardest thing you
ever do, it's also the most worthwhile and happiness creating thing you
ever do. Life is fair like that.
If how to overcome depression turned out to be an
easy solution, then the masses wouldn't have it because they'd be
getting rid of it as fast as picking it up. It's very common, and
because the answer to it is hard to accept, let alone to actually go
out and do, not that many people truly come through it entirely.
But you are
different
There will be statistics in the future to show the percentage of people
who overcome depression. As you're sat reading this right now,
recognise that you have the power to control your future actions in a
way that can make you a part of that recovering statistic.
There is no reason why you can't be a part of the
number of people who've successfully learnt and implemented how to
overcome depression.
