“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way; if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” – Frank Banks
I am on my wrong side today but this article will be definitely beneficial for you. I’d like to tell you something beforehand. Words may be a little harsh so you can stop reading and leave right here if you want to. But if you really want to face some truths, get motivated, and do something then read on. Make sure you finish it to the end.
Everyone has more ability to succeed than actually utilized. In other words, you have power but you don’t use it. The person who uses it becomes the success achiever.
Now the question is why most people can’t use this power? What holds them back are the excuses they give to themselves.
Today I am sharing here the excuses you should stop giving to yourself if you really want to succeed at anything.
1. I Don’t Know How to Do That
Nobody is born with all the knowledge. Every person has to acquire it according to the need.
I have seen people saying, “I don’t like my job and would love to be self-employed. But I cannot start my own business because I don’t know how to do that. He is doing so because he knows.”
What do you mean he knows? He is also a human like you. He wasn’t born with that knowledge. He acquired it. It is possible that he may have better sources. But that isn’t the prerequisite you need.
You can also get to know whatever you need, to get started. There are lots of books available, there is a lot of information on the internet on any topic you want. Talk to other people. They can tell you what they know.
It is not very hard to collect the information but the truth is that you just don’t want to do the effort. You have the brain, why not use it?
Don’t limit yourself just because of such trivial things.
2. I am Not an Expert at it how can I…..
This is the one which particularly created a lot of problems for me. I kept on giving this excuse to myself until I realized how stupid it is.
Who is the expert when starting out something? They become so on the way with time.
You will become an expert by doing it, remember this. It isn’t that you will become a master of it somehow first and then you’ll start.
What a nonsense is this kind of thinking.
I also kept doing this nonsense for three years. I wanted to write whatever I learned in my life to share it with other people. But I didn’t start because I wasn’t an ‘expert’ writer.
But one day I was reading an article on improving writing skills. There was a point clearly emphasized ‘practice makes perfect, write more and more’.
Then I started. I am getting better every time I write.
Understand this properly, you don’t have to be an expert, you just need to know how to start. That’s it. You will improve on the way as you work on it.
3. I don’t have enough time
Really? Do you work for all 24 hours?
Ok I know there are some vital and important things nobody can avoid like sleeping, eating, bathing etc. Still, you are left with at least 12 to 14 hours.
What about those 2 hours you waste every day on Facebook?
If not, you may be wasting time on some other kind of useless activity. You know what I mean.
You always have the time if you carefully observe. In case you don’t really have extra free time, then you need to manage it. Yes, I mean by time management. You have to do this.
If something consumes so much of your time that you cannot do anything you love to do, then why are you doing it at all? What is more important than your own happiness?
But one more thing is there you should understand. Everyone has 24 hours. Time is really limited.
You cannot get everything done but you can get done what is important.
So decide what is important for you. If you are spending time on something unimportant then stop doing that. Prioritize the tasks and first do the important ones.
4. What will they think if I do this
By the way how much time do you spend thinking about what those people are doing, who don’t really matter to you? Everybody is busy thinking about them most of the time. Nobody has the right to decide the way you live your life but you.
It is pointless to worry about what they’ll think if they really don’t have any significant role in your life.
Only the people you are close to will pay attention to what you do. Sometimes your loved ones aren’t able to see what is important in it so they may oppose you.
But if you believe it to be right then you can go for it and prove yourself. Those people will then surely understand. If they really love you they will want you to be happy. And you will be happy only if you live your life the way you want.
A quote is there which perfectly explains this:
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
– Bernard M. Baruch
5. What if I Fail
So what? It is not the end of the world.
How would you succeed if you don’t even try?
Most people lead a mediocre life because they fear risk taking. Failing is a way to learn. Every successful person has failed at some point, even multiple times.
Don’t worry about the failure, worry about the opportunities you will miss when you don’t even try.
If you keep on trying you will definitely hit the target at some point.
If you really want to fulfill your desires and lead the life you dream of then you need to be successful. But you cannot do so if you don’t take the risk.
The choice is yours.
You can stay in the safe zone, avoid any big risks and lead an ordinary life but make sure not to regret at the end of your life what you could have done and you didn’t just because you were afraid of failure.
Even if you take chances and actually fail still you won’t regret that because you’d be proud of yourself that you tried.
Just go and propose that person how much you love them. Don’t fear the rejection.
Start your own business you always wanted, leave that job you dislike.
Go on challenging trips with other like-minded people.
This is life.
Every moment is a risk.
You worry about small failures.
What about the day when you will fail to be alive?
That day can be full of regret or satisfaction, it depends on you.
In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.
Never let fear of failure stop you.
These are the excuses, I found, which dominate people’s mind and limit their possibilities. I try to get rid of these every day because I know I have to do this if I really want to have a meaningful life.
I hope this article has motivated you to break free from your comfort and safe zone and start to create your bright future.
